i deleted the default policy in rras whilst messing with a test server,
how do I put it back?

You will have to create another one. Just name it whatever you want,
including default. The default policy simply has the date and time
restriction set to all the time and "deny" selected as permissions if
condition matches. Note that the deny only applies to accounts configured
with "use Remote Access Policy" in their dial up permissions and does not
apply to accounts that have an explicit allow selected. If you disable
Remote Access and then enable it again it may recreate the default policy
but you will probably lose any other configuration settings also. --- Steve
