Read many of the great posts, especially by Matt!

Here is what helped me:
1. Disconnect network cable.
2. Boot, enable personal firewall protection.
3. Reconnect network cable.
4. Download all latest updates from Microsoft.
5. Reboot.

the edit on line 257 then run the patch listed below it:
