my computer will shut down due to the "RPC termnating
unexpectedly", it says it was initated by the "NT
Authority/System. i have Formatted c drive and it still
occurs. does anyone have any ideas???

Ouch, a format?

To stop the reboots: Go to Start/Run and type in: services.msc. Scroll down
to Remote Procedure Call (RPC)/Recovery/First Failure/Restart the Service.
Or go to Start/Run/CMD and type in: shutdown -a.

Close Windows Explorer, run the edit on line 257 which includes the prompt
for the patch once your system has been cleaned.

This script removes all variants of the W32.Blaster.Worm (original, B, C, D,
E and F) and will inform you whether or not the patch is already installed.

Did you try looking at the post NINE LINES before yours entitled "NT
Authority"?

Sheeeesh.

Greetings --

First of all, please unstick your CapsLock key. Posting in all
caps, as you have done, is the Usenet equivalent of shouting, and is
considered very rude. More importantly, posting in all caps makes the
post very hard to read, further reducing your chances of getting help.

If you connected the PC to the Internet without having first
enabled a firewall, without having first installed an antivirus
application with current virus definition files, and before installing
the KB824146 Hotfix, you're very likely to get infected from any of
the thousands of PCs on the Internet that are constantly broadcasting
the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only takes a few seconds of
exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.

HUH?????

Where did the OP post in caps?

Ahhh, I see, a conditioned reply, as I noticed you posted this verbatim to another that did post in caps. Maybe you could learn to post to individuals!

Greetings --

Granted, I should have snipped out the anti-Caps admonition this
time, but how (and, more importantly, why) do you suggest that one
"posts to individuals" when answering a question that has already
asked and answered literally _thousands_ of times? I've personally
responded to 927 such posts in the last 8 months, and I know I haven't
seen or answered every one of them. Do you honestly think that each
and every post should have been individually typed from scratch? You
really don't exactly have a stranglehold on reality, do you?
