RPC Service terminated unexpectedly

I just installed a fresh install of Windows XP Pro SP1a
and when I connect to the internet using dialup it causes
the RPC Service terminated unexpectedly and causes an
auto shutdown in 60 seconds.

Any suggestions? I have been searching thru MS Knowledge
base but have not had any luck.
