RPC server not available - error msg

Greeetings,

As I am trying to install a new DC in an existing domain (win2k3 SP1), I am
getting the following error message. "RPC server not available". Our DNS
is setup correctly.

Furthermore the netlogon service is stopped. When I am trying to start the
service, I get the following error message:

The netlogon service on local computer started then stopped. Some services
stop automatically if ......... blablabla......

Any idea on how to get ride of it and install the new DC ?

I am always suspicious when someone makes that
claim without providing the tests that would confirm
it. You may be perfectly correct but (sorry) most
people who write such things indeed have DNS
problems or at best just haven't checked properly.

Start with DCDiag to get a quick and good idea of
problems with both DCs and their DNS records.

Have you tried doing the DCPromo or using DCPromo
with the /forceremoval switch?
