RPC server is unavailable

I am trying to establish trust between two W2K domain
controllers. I am getting "RPC server is unavailable"
error.

The DNS, WINS is running perfectly on both and ping is
successful from both directions using NetBIOS names. The
two RPC services are in started (Automatic) status on both
machines. My servers are on SP3.

I have also searched thru many KB articles 224370, 329705
etc...but none is of help to resolve this issue.

Any clues, please?

Do you have a good Virus scanner? Some would answer "Yes, I have Norton or
McAfee" Fools! There's a new virus out that Norton missed, McAfee was
destroyed by it, and it took down my RPC services constantly! What did I
do? I got AVG, scanned the hell out of my systems, and removed 4,000
infections, and now all is well.

Or you could just check the network cable.

Hi, Our servers are not on internet to get affected with
virus. We are on a LAN that doesn't go out of the
building. So, what else could be the reason?

Event Log. There's thousand of things that can happen to RPC/Netlogon.
Could be DNS missing SRV records. Event Log is a must to look at to get an
idea of where to start.
