Rows and Columns

I am using Excel XP

Each worksheet has 65,536 rows and 256 columns according to specifications.

Is there a way to change these number to a smaller amount?

I know I can hide rows and columns, but wondering if I can not have them to
start them.

TIA

Thanks Don - that'll work

The short answer is NO. Just don't format more than you need.

Hi Bob,
AFAIK -- There is no difference between formatting one cell and many cells
in a rectangular area. You do not want to restrict your formatting.

Create a new file and save -- 15,360 bytes
each of the following is followed by a save and check of file, properties
remove 2 sheets, leaving 1 -- 11,776 bytes
Column A, select and format with a color -- 11,776 bytes
Change color in A1, and copy down to A1026 -- 45,568 bytes
Column A, select and format with same color -- 11,776 bytes

What you specifically want to avoid is individual formatting.per cell.

You do not want to put content into cells that you are not using,
use Ctrl+End to keep track of your Last Used Cell.
