Routing and Remote Access and NAT

K

Karl G. Johnson

My PC is connecting to the Internet on a DSL connection
using a Windows 2000 server running Routing and Remote
Access with NAT to serve as a router. The MSN Messenger
running on the PC works well except on Audio & Video
connections. Does anyone know what do I need to setup in
the Routing and Remote Access service in order to get
Audio & Video to come through using NAT.

Thank you,

Karl

Greetings Karl,

In order to establish voice/video conversations from behind the NAT, the NAT must support
Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). Unfortunately, the Windows 2000 (or 2003) Server Routing and
Remote Access NAT does not support UPnP, and as such this won't work.

MSN Messenger 6 does deal with this problem slightly better, assuming both you and your
contact are you using it, you might want to try it here:
