I have a desktop with Win 98 and a laptop with XP Pro and
a 4 port wireless router and cable internet service. When
I set this up by plugging in my cable modem to the router,
plugging in my desktop nic to the router and configuring
my wireless laptop will I be able to access my desktop
files from my laptop? Will both units be able to access
the internet at the same time?

Yes, if setup correctly. Both machines will get an address from the router,
these should be in the same sub-net. Share away.
