Root Directory - Max file size?

Depends on the File System - FAT12, FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, HFS, etc. etc. etc.

Same as for any other directory - a fraction under 2GB in FAT 16, 4GB
in FAT 32, effectively unlimited in NTFS
