Hi, I'm trying to get excel to count the last 12 months of data in a
particular row for multiple years. The data in the rows are not numeric
values, but text values. Basically, on a monthly basis, I want the sheet to
get rid of the oldest month and include the newest month (currently, i want
the sheet to drop jan '04 and add jan '05).....

any thoughts?

thanks

Do you really mean to count the items, or sum the amounts (albeit they are
in text form)?

Can you give us some sample data.

thanks for the reply.

top rows consists of the months from Jan '04 to Jan'05

Jan Feb March ......

the columns are individual codes, such as
Watch 100ct
Batteries 200ct
and so on an so forth

and within this grid, there are reason codes that gets put in, such as
For Jan '04, Watch 100ct - Low inventory
For Jan '05 Batteries 200ct - Consumption too high....etc

for my january 2005 update, I want the sheet to count the number of times
there's text within that grid for only the latest 12 months (feb '04 to
Jan'05)

hopefully this has helped you in helping me. Thank you
