Recently we are seeing a rogue workgroup called "Bet" on our internal
network. We checked WINS and could not find any record of it, and the "net
view /domain:Bet" doesn't show any information, however the workgroup
continues to plague us. Also, simply opening the workgroup results in an
error indicating we don't have permissions to view it.

Anyone have any ideas of how to track this?

Have anyone with an outside laptop connect to your domain lately?

It's possibly a remnant of a consultant or a user that connected a laptop to
your domain recently and that laptop was a member of the "Bet" workgroup.

Unfortunately with the size of our property, I cannot monitor all activity
all the time. It is entirely possible that someone did in fact connect a
laptop that is not a member of our domain, but does have one of our IPs
assigned by us for technical support. The real question is though, wouldn't
that workgroup be registered in WINS?
