RIS Server Problems

Hello All,

I'm having a slight issue with RIS Server on Windows 2003 Server
Standard Edition. I can successfully create an installation source
for which to create other Windows Servers from, but the menu pick is
only available to other machines with the same motherboard (and
onboard NIC) type. All other RIS menu picks are available to these
computers and work well.

Simply put, Most PC's see RIS Menu picks with 3 items to choose from,
but those computers with motherboards/NICs matching the original
source see 4 menu picks.

I've reviewed KB articles like:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;324573
and
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=298750

Neither one seems to address my issue. Any hints, suggestions or
comments are welcome. Thanks.

Thanks Tim, I'll check it out and see what RIS does with a new
image. What puzzles me though is that I have a sysprepped Ghost image
of Windows XP that runs flawlessly on each and every one of these
motherboards. Same image, flawless performance.

Now I know Ghost isn't a Microsoft product, but if the motherboard
truly needed a different HAL for each of these motherboards, it seems
to me that I would get some indication of problems restoring my
Ghosted WinXP image, which I don't. I'll try your advice though and
see if I can compare HALs as well as Riprep.sif files for each RIS
image to try and find a difference.

BTW, How many different (Microsoft) HALs are there for Server 2003?
I understand ACPI and Non-ACPI, but are there HAL differences in
single processor, multi-processor, or worse, more variables...?
