Dear all,

I have installed my distribution folder on a 2000 server
system for XP renmote client installation.

My client system has a network compatible PXE card, when I
boot on my client computer on the pxe boot rom, the client
is looking for dhcp but after a while stoped.

it seems that the server side id not seen or not capable
to detect the connected client.

why can I do to or check to make it work ?

thanks for your answer
regards

serge

Do your other clients get DHCP addresses?

Are you RISing across a router?

Have you authorized your RIS server by using the DHCP snap-in?

Have you checked the box "respond to client computers"?

Start>Run>"RISETUP -CHECK">Ok on your RIS server.

Hello,

I managed to get the client connected with DHTP and start
the installation.

But based on that I have one question relative to RIS
functionnlaity. I have configured the RIS for installation
of my XP pro, then it has create a RemoteInstall folder
that I have place to a drive different than the OS.
Then it has copied necessary file to that folder from
source CD.

During the Clinet installation progress, the installation
prompt me to insert XP cd, sounds strange for me normally
it should have copied all files to remote install
folder????

Thanks to clear up my mind

Hi Serge,

Yes, RIS does copy the i386 directory from your cd to the Remote Install
folder. I've never had a RIS install ask for the CD, maybe something went
wrong.

Try the RIS again and make a note of what the installation needs from the
CD.
