Right-click to use Select ALL

In EVERY Office version prior to 2007, you could "Right-Click" to choose the
option to [select all text]. Well it's gone now. To boot, I can't even find
it in the "ribbon" either. .. Any help would be appreciative.

Microsoft, I think you guys really know how to rock a good thing
sometimes... :-(

I wonder what weed you've been smokin', Rob. I just looked through all
30+ right-click menus in Word 2003, and Select All isn't on any of
them unless you customized one or more. I don't remember seeing it
there in any version back to Word 2.0, either.

In Word 2007, it _is_ on the ribbon -- Home tab, Editing group (way
over on the right), on the Select button's dropdown.

In all versions, by default the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A runs the
Select All command.

I think the OP is referring to selecting all occurrences of a particular
style. I don't know about Word 2007, but in Word 2002/2003, you'd have
to check the "Keep track of formatting" option in Tools | Options, Edit
tab.

Well, maybe... But the wording of that menu item is "Select Text with
Similar Formatting" which doesn't sound to me like the OP's "[select
all text]". Besides, that's available only in Word 2002/2003, not
"EVERY Office version prior to 2007" unless you have a very short
memory.

Personally, I use Ctrl+A to perform this action, so I hadn't missed it in other
interfaces...

In the "Home" tab, in the "Editing" group at the far right, you'll find a
"Select" button and select all is in that menu.

It could be added to the right-click menus using a macro, but there are a LOT
of right-click menus (for "plain text", text in tables, text with spelling
errors, etc), so it's not a simple or straightforward task to just put it back
in.

To add to the confusion, the shortcut I use for the actual Select All
(Ctrl+A), as opposed to Select All Instances, is Ctrl+Click in the left
margin.
