Hi, usualy, when you right click on the desktop, you get a "box" where you
can select "Arrange icons by >", "properties" and "refresh", among other
things. Unfortunatly, this feature, on one of my PC, leads to an "explorer
error" and it has to shut down asking me if I want to send a repport on this
error to Microsoft. After that, DrWatson gets also an error and ask me the
same thing (if I want to send an error repport). Then, the process freezed
up and I loose the task bar and all icons on the desktop.
I have to press the "ctrl-a-delete" to get the Windows Task Manager and use
it to restart the PC.
I tried the "restore" feature on Windows, but it didn't "restore" anything,
stating that there was nothing to restore.
Can anyone help me on this?

dunno how to fix that
but in the mean time, you dont have to restart whenever explorer is
dead
in task manager "ctrl+alt+del" you can start new process and browse to
c:\windows\explorer.exe and it will start the explorer again, icons and
taskbar back

Usually this happens when there is a "bad" entry (handler or shell
extension) on the right click menu that has been added by third party
software. MVP Ramesh Srinivasan explains the problem on this page:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm

NOTE: If you only have this problem when right clicking on the desktop
(other right click menus involving Windows Explorer or My Computer work
okay) - be sure to read to the end of the article for directions related to
"desktop only" situations.
