Right Click and delete slow to a crawl

I have recently started having my first real problems with WinXP. I am
running a 2.0 Celeron with 512 MB of memory on WinXP Home.

I am noticing the whenever I right click on any file, it takes roughly 20
seconds to display the menu. Also, whenever I highlight a file and hit the
delete button, it also takes about the same ... 20 seconds ... to perform
the task. I have not installed anything lately and have Windows Restore
Service disabled so that's not an option.

Any ideas what this might be?
