I have files that are rather large, and filling up my
server in the winnt\system32 folder that I CANNOT find
reference to anywhere. They are all RGBxxxxx, where xxxxx
is random HEX letters. No file extension. I'm presuming
that they might be registry backup files? Can't find
anything via the usual search options. Can anyone help?

thanks!

So I found this article, and I still don't understand it, but I'm wondering
if it has anything to do with your question. I'm pretty sure they're not reg
backup files.

Thanks, but I don't think that's it. (but, that's part of
the problem of why I can't find info. It keeps running
into RGB as "red green blue" and gives me video things).
They are 65-125MB files that are created on a regular
basis. And, for some reason all but one were created
between 8:25 and 8:30p. Though we can find NO processes
that run during that time...

Scott,

I'm experiencing the same issue, did you ever find an answer? I had
3.6G of files starting with RGB and EVT in WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG and I had to
move them to the D: drive since my C: drive was down to 3MB free. All the
file names were eight characters long and hexidecimal. The last modification
dates of the files go back to 1/21/04 and there's a few created every day at
approximately 1:27AM then the next day at 1:30AM, then the next at 1:33AM and
it keeps incrementing. We're running SQL and LaborPro on this Windows 2000
SP3 server.
