Reverting a laptop to XP home from XP Pro

I recently bought a laptop from a friend who was emigrating and have found
that it has XP Professional installed, but the licence sticker on the back
is for XP Home edition. Is there an easy way to get XP Home re-installed on
the laptop, using the licence key on the laptop, thus making the software
'legal' again and able to be updated by Windows Update ? I have XP recovery
discs for by PC system but not for the laptop.

TIA

What brand?

HP has a website you can purchase the OEM CD disks from. I would contact
the OEM manufacturer.

You'll need to contact the manufacturer of the laptop and order
the appropriate Windows XP recovery, restore or reinstallation
CD from them, then perform a "clean install".

Can I use any recovery CD for this purpose ? I have one that was for my old
home PC - no longer in use as the MB fried or one for my new home PC.
