Reversing data in columns

Is there a way you can quickly reverse the order in which
data appears in cells of a column in Excel 2000 - I do not
want to put the data in alpha/numerical order, simply
reverse the order in which the data appears.

In the top adjacent cell, type 1 and fill down to the bottom. You can then
sort descending on this column.
