Good afternoon,

In an effort to protect a particular folder from unwanted changes I earlier
right clicked on that folder and chose propoerties>security
tab>advanced>owner tab and changed the current owner to myself. I would like
to go back and change that to "Administrators" again for the time being but
it will not let me. I get a message box saying:
"Unable to set new owner on ___
This security ID may not be assigned as the owner of this object".

I am unsure what to do next...could someone please help?

I do not believe so-so good point! However I was not logged in as admin when
I made the original change either...

But how is it then that I was able to change the owner in the first place
without being logged on as an administrator?

As long as you were logged in as someone with FULL RIGHTS to the file in
question and/or your other account has administrative rights... Same
accomplishment,

if your not logged in as admin, your not going to be able to take control of
the file as admin, it's not a matter of authority level, it's an account name
matter, (in this case)
