revers DNS

Robert

I currently am Using Dual windows 200 Servers Stand alone
as DNS servers for our District. We USE DHCP, WINS and
DNS internally to allow connectivity to all of our sites
accross the WAN. I have set the DHCP to updatd DNS and
DNS to use WIN and WINS-R for name Resolution on our
network. I have also turned on scavenging and aging on
the dns. The problem I am havin is that in the Reverse
pointer zone the domain name that I added is not being
appended to the host name for the pointer records.
The reverse pointer contains the host name but NOT the
Domain name as entered in the WINS-R Properties. Any
Ideas...
Please feel free to email me directly.

Thanks

Make sure that both the clients and the DHCP server KNOW
the full and correct DNS name. Try setting the corresponding
option in DHCP for the scopes also.

Only the registrar (client or DHCP) will know to use the full
DNS name and so they must be set correctly.
