Returning 2nd value

Is there a way to return the second value in a range of
values? I can get the first and last values with max and
min, but I'm also trying to get the second largest. My
spreadsheet includes multiple rows and columns, so rank
doesn't seem to be pratical. Thanks.

have a look at LARGE/SMALL:
=LARGE(your_range,2)
