Retrieving/Saving events from a year ago???

I noticed that my outlook calendar doesn't keep events from over 6-8 months
ago.
It's Sept. 2005 today and I wanted to find an event from Sept. 2004, and
when I went to that month, everything had disappeared. I'm certain I had
events in that month last year. In fact, Outlook didn't start showing my
events until March 2005.
How can I retrieve those old event calendars, or it is lost forever?
If they aren't retrievable, how do I avoid this problem and start saving all
my calendars?
 
Adjust the autoarchive settings accordingly on your calendar. Don't know if
this is standalone or with Exchange, but you'd need to retrieve from the
archive folder or a backup file depending upon current mode and settings.
