retrieving profile after XP recovery

I just had to preform a OS only restore and have lost access to my original
account. I can view it by going to "Explore all users" and all of my data is
still intact, but the profile doesnt register through the normal "user
accounts" applications. The biggest problem is that all of my data (on both
hard drives) has become unaccessable. When I try to open the folders I get
an "access is denied" message. I have tried creating a new account and
changing the path to reflect the location of the old profile, but it doesnt
work. Any help would be greatly apprieciated!
