Retrieving data from 3,5" disketts

Problem:
I used some really outdated 3.5" discs to save some data.
They are "Imation" 2DD, 1.0MB discs. Iwas prompted to
format the disc prior to Saving, and I did. The documents
were saved (showed up in the document list).

Using a different computer now (still Windows 2000), I
cannot read the data. Error says "Not formatted"
Troubleshooting (and realizing I would lose existing
data), I went through the re-format process again, and
this time I got a 2nd error stating that the disc could
not be formatted as 1.44MB, it is a 720KB disk (I agree).
Not having got this error the first time, I think I saved
the files to the "incorrect" format, and cannot open the
files. Suggestions appreciated. If I'm toast, OK too.

If you can find someone with a Windows 98 PC you "might" be able to read
and copy off the files. Win98 is not as picky about the "signature" on
the diskettes. Just make sure you also have a 1.44 that you formated on
a Windows 2000 PC available to copy anything you can pull off with the
Win98 PC.
