Retrieve installer information

Dear All
I need to do a implementation in c#. The requirement is like i have
to retrieve the information of the installer , like version and
compare it with the version of the new installer.How can do the same
in c#

Kindly assist

When you say "infomation of the installer" did you mean the version of the
Microsoft Installer (i.e .msi) or is it the version number of a already
installed software package.
