Retaining Formatting when Linking

How do I retain colors I change in a "master" document that go to another document?
 
Formulas return values. It's either up to you to set the format to match or use
some kind of macro to copy the cell's formatting.

Maybe, you could use conditional formatting. just use the same formula for both
cells. (not always a viable suggestion, though.)
