Restricting access to NAT router

G

Gilles Bilodeau

Hi:

I use a W2K server as a NAT router and would like to give access to Internet
to some computers only. Anybody knows a way to do that?

Thank you for helping.

NAT does not have the functionality to do this. You would be best served by
using a proxy server like ISA Server. See www.microsoft.com/isaserver

On the computers that you don't want to have access, don't configure a
default gateway for them in their tcp/ip properties. Of course if they are
not NT4.0/W2K/XP the user will be able to configure one. Otherwise even
cheap Nat routers can manage access to the internet based on the IP address
of the computer. You could even use ipsec filtering to block access to the
default gateway on W2K/XP Pro computers and manage it via Group Policy. ---
