Restricted Sites in Windows Explorer

B

Bert

I have Win 98 OS and running IE browser 6.0. When I open
Windows explorer to view drives and files, I see
Restricted sites in the bottom right status bar. Why is
this and how do I turn it off?

It would appear that someone or some program has added Restricted Zone to
your registry where your My Computer Zone should be. You can download a
registry patch for this from
http://www.iecustomizer.com/tweaks/index.htm click on the download icon for
the file HKCU_MyComputerZone.reg, download and save it to your computer.
Then open it to merge it into your registry.
Alternatively if you know how to use regedit.exe to edit the registry delete
the following keys

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\Zones\0

and

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\Zones\0
