Restrict editing by paragraph

Hello,
I would like to create a template by where the user can
edit only portions of the document. For example, we have
a letter template but we would like the user to insert a
name, etc. I see that this can be done but I can't
figure out how to do it. Has anyone done this that can
share their experience? Thanks so much in advance.

What version of Word is this?

In all versions of Word, you can accomplish this by protecting the document
as a form (Tools - Protect) after inserting form fields for the user to fill
in. Look for "forms" in Word's Help system for additional information.
