I have inadvertantly deleted the wrong user account. Is there any way I can
restore it? I am actualy only interested in the Outlook express files.
Can anyone help?

You could try logging on using an administrator account then using system
restore. When you delete the account you also delete its security identifer,
so just recreating an account with the same name won't work.

If you only deleted the user account and not the profile connected to that
account you should be able to restore the information from Outlook express.
Go to C:\Documents And Settings\username (username of the deleted
account)\Application Data\Identities\GUID (Global Uniqe
Identifier)\Microsoft\Outlook Express
There you should be able to find the files used by Outlook Express. Make
sure you have enabled "Show hidden Files and Folders" under Tools - Folder
Options - View in Explorer.

Good Luck!

When the account was deleted did you tell it to delete the files too? If
not they should still be there. If you told it to delete the files too,
then check in the recycle bin. If not there the only other option is to try
data recovery software. The more the computer is used after the deletion
the less is the chance of recovery.

I don't remember answering a question do I want to delete the files as well,
it was just the user account and profile I deleted, I don't know whether that
deletes the files as well or not.

In windows explorer look at the folders under Documents and Settings. See
if the data files are still there.

Hi Mathias,
I found the files exactly where you told me to look, but they are .dbx
files. How do I get them into my current outlook express?

Open OE, File, Import, Messages, OE6, Message store directory, then browse
to the found folder.
