Restoring to different hardware

It is possible to take a backup of one Windows 2000 Server and restore it to
another server that has different hardware, i.e. mass storage, chipset,
video, etc? And are they any limitations?
 
Yes its possible. Not a good idea unless its an absolute emergency, though.
Sometimes, Windows will not boot afterwards (especially if going from a 1
cpu to 2+). 75% of the time it will figure itself out as it rebuilds the HAL
and reinstalls drivers. But in the long run, you will probably have problems
with the system.
