Restoring files deleted at command line (XP)

I inadvertently deleted several files at once, not
realizing I had typed a comma rather than a dot in the
file spec, from the XP command line. Used del *,bat as
the command. I noticed that files deleted thereby do NOT
go into the Recycle bin. Is there a way to recover them?
I notice that XP no longer has an undel command like
earlier MS OSs. Thanks to anyone who can enlighten me.
