as you will gather from my question I'm a real novice with computers. I do
weekly back ups of my system and would like to know if I can recover deleted
email folders. The folders were deleted by accident. If it matters I'm
using Office 2003 Microsoft Outlook.

If you are a novice, then you are obviously a very clever one - doing
weekly backups :)
Open your last backup file with Outlook (File | Open | Outlook Data
File), then copy (drag-and-drop) the folders you want to restore from
the backup file to the actual Personal Folders file. Use right-click
drag-and-drop to get a choice between Copy and Move.

Hi Pat,
I think the information is good but I must be missing something. I don't
understand when you say "open your last backup file with Outlook".
What I did was insert the DVD that has my last backup on it then I can't
seem to find what I'm looking for. Like I said I'm a novice.
Thanks for your help and any further clarification would be appreciated

It might depend what you used to backup & what options you set in the backup
process.
If you used the default windows backup process, you may need to post to a
group that supports your operating system as to how to recover backup files,
or see windows help for the procedure.

The outlook data file is a *.pst file, by default named outlook.pst.
If you procede to restore this file from a backup, you should ensure outlook
is closed during the recovery.

Is the DVD read-only? If so, the file must be transferred to disk before
you can open it with Outlook.

Use Windows Explorer to find the backup PST file on the DVD, then copy
it to somewhere on your disk (say, C:\TEMP or something similar).
Right-click on the copied file, select Properties, and uncheck the
Read-only attribute.

Now you should be able to open it with Outlook. Don't hesitate to ask
again if you still have troubles.

You can try to recover e-mails from deleted folders with Easy Mail
Recovery software:

http://www.munsoft.com/EasyMailRecovery/

The program uses original algorithms that assist in the recovery of a
maximum number of messages even if the mail client cannot open the
message database.

HI Pat,
I must be doing something wrong? I did as you suggested, opened the backup
with Explorer and the "read only" attribute wasn't checked so I copied the
entire backup and then opened it but never found anything it simply has a
folder icon that says backup set 2008-07-03 144718 and when I open that it
gives me a bunch of Zipped files. then I can't open them.
I think I'm in over my head but if you have any other suggestions please let
me know. I do appreciate your time and your help so don't feel compelled to
waste anymore of your time.
Thanks
