Hello

I have XP Pro.

When using System Restore and typing a description for Restore point I am
not at all sure what to type in description.

I would like to choose my own time and day to restore the pc rather than
using the times scheduled by my pc. Please give me an example of what a
Restore point description should look like. Do you type day and time in the
box ? Thank you.

Regards

You can type anything you like - I use - 'Pre' (or Post) the event that I am
protecting with the Restore Point e.g. 'Pre install of Application xyz'

The text you type into the box when you create a restore
point is plain text e.g. 'My restore point after defrag'.
XP adds the date and time for you..

I make it a practice of creating a Restore Point before installing anything
on my system. I name them according to what I'm installing, like:

Before installing Quicken Family Lawyer
Before Installing updated Display Driver

The important thing is to name it something that makes sense to YOU. You
don't have to type in any date. Windows XP automatically dates each Restore
Point, whether it's system generated, or manually created.

The time and day at which you made the point will be added
automatically. And ones made on the automatic system will always be
described as a 'System' point. I make the description something that is
useful to me as a mnemonic - maybe just Master, for one that I regard as
a stable point of return, maybe 'before installing x' if I make it when
not sure if the x installation will do it for me. Or when I made a
whole series last week when trying out settings on some wireless
networking, a brief indication of the settings as at the time
