I was in the process of updating my HOSTS file for our VPN and when I went to
save it I get an error cannot find file under
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\HOSTS. I've tried to copy/paste and rename a
valid HOSTS from another computer, even tried renaming it in DOS but nothing
will let me overwrite the existing HOSTS file. It won't save even if I try
to delete/add entries in the existing version. Can anyone help! I want to
restore my HOSTS file back to default and hopefully, then it will allow me to
update. Thanks in advance!

I assume Windows tells you "Access denied". If so then you
have two options:
- While in "My Computer", right-click it / Properties, then
modify the access permissions to suit your requirements.
- Log on as administrator, then modify it.

You could also click Start / Help / Search tab, then read up
on "access permissions". There is lots of useful stuff there!
