Restore Contacts which disappeared doing Detect & Repair

iI recently ran Detect & Repair, and the Contacts list in Outlook was wiped
clean. So I have been slowly rebuilding the list. However, I noticed that
when composing new e-mail messages, addresses formerly on the Contacts list
appear when I type in the TO: box. So the information is still on my
computer somewhere (at least it seems so). Can I recover my Contacts list?

The list is being generated by your autocomplete cache and has nothing to do with your Contacts folder. It is simply a "reminder" of all addresses to which you have sent mail, which means they may or may not be in your contacts folder.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, Janet J asked:

Also, in addition to what Milly said, Detect and Repair never touches your
data. Your Outlook data file remains intact on your hard drive. Just search
for it an open it to reclaim your data.
