Resolve mx record

If i can use nslookup successfully resolve a mx record, the recipient
smtp server should be able to be contacted ? Pls advise

Well, yes but that doesn't mean it will accept mail from you. There are a
number of reasons why an SMTP server would reject mail, including no reverse
lookup and being on a Blackhole IP address.
There are tools to test these at www.dnsstuff.com.
