I have a desktop computer which is used primarily for storing and
backing up shared files. It is running Windows 2000 server.

When setting up I created 2 partitions 10gb(system) and 50gb(Data) and
left 50gb unpartioned. I now need to extend the 50gb partition into
the unallocated disk space. To complicate disk 0 is mirrored to disk
1. Both are dynamic disks. I have tried to use the extend command
whilst in safe mode but this just sat at the command prompt. Can
anyone advise how I can do this and the correct commands.

Thanks in advance
Catherine

AfaIk, Windows does not support increasing a partition size while leaving
the file system intact. Third party tools such as Partition Magic can do it
though, so I've heard.

Did your data partition exist before the disks where upgraded to dynamic
disks? In that case, this MS Knowledge Base article explains why it doesn't
work:

You say that your disks are mirrored. Is this done in hardware, or are both
your volumes (system and data) mirrored in software? In that case - and
your data volume was created after the disks where made dynamic - you might
be able to break the mirror of your data volume, extend it, and then
re-mirror.

Best regards
