Resize jpeg's automatically

Svetlana

Hi there,

I have a digital camera and I save pictures on my PC using the
application provided with the camera. On my hard disk the pictures
transferred from the camera are in jpeg format and take up around 1 MB
each.

Is there a program (freeware or a licenced) that would process
automatically all the pictures located in a folder as follows:
- resize them following the settings I have defined once and for all
at the biginning
- save in jpeg format with a quality I defined once and for all at the
biginning

I know how to do that for individual pictures but I want to avoid
setting these parameters for each picture individually.

Thanks.

Sveta

Can't you set your camera to a particular size and resolution? Mine has
menu options for that. Once it's set, any pics after that adhere to those
settings until I change it.

I use it myself for the exact same function.
tag all the files you want to resize.
set up the scaling you want, or if required just re-save them as Jpegs again
but at a much higher compression.

Svetlana, Ceg is quite correct. You should be able to pre-determine the size
of the transfer. For best quality, don't go below 640 x 480 when
transferring...this will give you a jpeg around 360kb. Consult your manual
that came with the camera.
You can then use one of the many freeware programs to play with the photos,
do batch renaming and so on.

BTW.
You can also use IrfanView and XnView for batch resizing
