Hi

I realize that this is a hardware issue, and not a
software problem, but hopefully some one can give me a
pointer.

I "inherited" an old computer, onto which I have installed
Windows 2000 - everything working fine except that I
cannot gain access to the CMOS - it is password protected.
I cannot get hold of the original owner. Now, I do recall
many years ago having a program that would completely
clear the CMOS settings (password and all), does anybody
have a program like that?

Cheers

Peter

Try removing the battery or check the mb manual for a jumper placement to
reset the cmos.

Good iddeas - I have tried the battery with no success -
this has also worked for me in the past. I have left it
for about an hour.

I do not have the manuals but I will look online it is an
old HP box.

If there are any other ideas, let me know.

Cheers

If its a Vectra or Ve or similar there are some dipswitches on the board in
a row its usually number 5 that resets the CMOS
