resetting gp item

HI all,
Just had a tough time with a gp item not working on one
of my users and I ended up having to delete her account
and set her up again.
First I tried to reverse the gp item by selecting disable
but this did not fix the problem. So can someone tell me
the best way to change a gp item back to orginial
settings.
Example : I disabled the connection tab on IE then the
user had a problem with finding the proxy server so I
changed the item to enable the tab. The tab showed at
the top but the lan settings is still grayed out. Then I
changed the item to not configured but the lan settings
is still grayed out. How can I get this back to normal?
What is the process of in gp to revert back to orginial
settings?
Also what is the command to immediately update the gp for
the user?

this is for the refreshing the gp immedately
as far as the other is it blocking or inheriting from
above?

I have only one gp running at the domain level.
