Resetting AutoNumber Fields to Zero in Access 2003

Hallo there

I am trying to reset my AutoNumber fields to zero the way I used to in MS
Access 2000 and it doesn't appear to work:

When the table was empty I used to append a zero (0) to the autonumber field
and then run a delete query (removing the zero), which meant that the next
record appended would start again at 1. This no longer works in Access XP or
Access 2003. Is there any other way of doing this?

Can any one help?

Any ideas/useful links are much appreciated.

Delete all the records from the table, then compact the database.
