Reserved system space

4 drives:
1. 250GB HD (booting drive)
2. 250GB HD (2 partitions)
3. 500GB USB Drive (2 part/one is Acronis Special partition)
4. 120GB USB Drive
Mapping drives (Diskeeper) shows unusually large (abt.15-20%) "reserved
system space" on both USB drives and one of partitions on drive #2.
What's this space for? Is this needed? Can I make this smaller somehow?

PS. The smallest, almost minimal "Reserved system space" is on C drive
(bootable/system - VP Pro).

I believe Windows by default reserves 12.5% for the recycle bin on
each drive. That can be changed by the user. Check the Help section
for information on the Recycle Bin settings.

No, it's 10% maximum. But it takes12% by default for System Restore, which
is almost always way too much.

I knew there was a '12' in there somewhere. :) Would XP attempt to
reserve space for System Restore on USB drives? Doesn't sound
reasonable to me, but I don't know.

No, it doesn't, afaik.
