Reserved Name

Deborah

I want to name my worksheet "History" but I get an error "History is a
Reserved Name".
I cannot find anywhere in help what a 'reserved name' is.

Can anyone tell me where this name exists. I have no range names nor
any other sheet by that name and I got rid of any style names that
contained History.

Thank you
Deborah

If you select tools/track changes/highlight changes you will see 'list
changes
on a new sheet' check box. If it is selected a new worksheet named 'history'
is added if any changes made to the active worksheet. This why 'history'
name reserved.

A reserved name is one that Excel uses for something
itself. You then can't use that name. You can name your
sheet History1, or H istory (with a blank or underscore)
or something similar, but not History.

Why not place a space either before or after the word History? It wil
look exactly the same and not give you that error. Just remember tha
there is a space in case you refer to that sheet using VBA code.
