I may have to repurchase XP since I lost my product id. If
I end up finding it and then sell the extra copy to
someone, will they be able to activate it?

Thanks,
Karl

Only if it was a retail version. OEM versions are tied to the original
computer it is istalled on. If you still have XP installed, the link below

Thanks Michael. It is a retail version.

The problem is I was in the middle of the install when I
realized I didn't have my key. Really dumb, I know. But I
was doing an in-place upgrade after installing a new
mobo/cpu and did not think it would ask for the key for a
repair. Obviously XP won't boot unless I put the old mobo
back in. But even if I do that, is it too late since I
started the install process? I don't think I can boot back
into XP now until I finish the install. But can I retrieve
the key booted from a floppy? Or is it even retrievable at
all at this point?

Thanks,
Karl
