I have about 100 different files in pdf format. I want to do a keyword search
in all the files and to bring up the files that contain particular word. The
search is not for file name but the keyword within the pdf documents.

The search option exists for word or excel file but not for pdf formats.

thanks

Correct; it isn't there.

Aqua,

The filter for PDF search is not included by default in Windows XP. You will
have to install the iFilter plugin from Adobe. See: How to search for text
within a PDF document using Windows XP?:

Search for text contained works only for types that are registered as
being Pure text, and those that have registered Filters to remove
formatting controls that could otherwise get confused with Unicode
characters. PDF meets neither (as a third party proprietary format it
would be up to Adobe to provide a filter). A suggestion is Agent
Ransack www.agentransackcom - but I don't know how well it gets on with
PDF formats
