Hello

Having tried PRTG from www.paesler.com and OnlineEye, I find that they are
good but an overkill for my simple setup. Does anyone know of a free SNMP
based application which will allow me to graphically monitor my router
in/out traffic, when running that application on my XP machine? The idea is
so that I can watch my wi-fi router, seeing the total traffic to/from all
connected machines.

An ideal would be something like Hagel Technologies DUMeter or NetMeter, but
instead of sitting on the host machine and monitoring traffic on the
particular IP, it does the same graphical representation of a remote router
instead.

I have tried some of the shareware which is PERL based but found it too
complicated.

I assume you've looked at MRTG? It's practically the canonical
solution, at <http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~oetiker/webtools/mrtg/>.

Gary - I hadn't heard of it but you are right, it is exactly what I wanted
it to be. I also had to lookup "canonical" which means I learnt the meaning
of a word, too a double bonus!

Thanks for your help
YW.

http://software.ccschmidt.de/inftraf_detail.html

"Interface Traffic Indicator, a graph utility to measure incoming and
outgoing traffic on an interface in bits/sec, bytes/sec or utilization.
Works on all SNMP-capable devices (computers, NICs, switches, routers,
etc.) with adjustable poll intervall down to three seconds. You can use
this programm in a professional network environment to monitor selected
network interfaces (even backplane ports if the device provides the
information) or you can monitor your home network or cable/modem/ISDN
connection to the internet."

Does the job very nicely for me and sounds like exactly what you're
looking for :)
