REQ: How can I stop floppy drive checking?

I have disabled the 3.5 floppy drive in the BIOS boot sequence check,
but Windows XP still checks the drive every time it loads or shuts
down even though I never use this drive. I have used it on occasion,
but not for a very long time. How can I stop Windows from checking
the floppy drive?

Being/nobeing in the boot sequence does not preclude Windows from checking
to see if the drive exists.

One method that certainly works is to remove the drive.

try simply disabling the driver. then when your ready to use it, enable the
driver....
